Who was Russell Targ and what is the ESP Trainer used for?
Life and Career: Born on April 11, 1934, in New York, Russell Targ is an American physicist known for pioneering laser development in the 1950s-1960s at Technical Research Group and Sylvania Electronic Systems. With a B.S. in physics from Queens College (1954) and graduate studies at Columbia University, he worked at IBM before joining Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in 1972. There, with Harold Puthoff, he co-founded the CIA-funded remote viewing program (Grill Flame, Stargate), researching ESP (extrasensory perception) and psi for over 20 years. Blind since childhood, Targ is also an avid motorcyclist and prolific author (e.g., Limitless Mind, Do You See What I See?, The Reality of ESP). He led the Institute of Noetic Sciences and, at 90, continues to advocate for ESP.
ESP Trainer: Developed by Targ under a NASA program at SRI in the 1970s-1980s, this tool trains ESP through repetitive tests (24 trials per session, aiming for 12+ correct answers). The iOS app (2009) replicates this: users guess hidden symbols (cards, numbers, etc.) to strengthen intuition. Targ claims practice improves scores, unlocking one’s “psychic” side. Users report progress (33-67% success), though it’s seen as repetitive. Available on the App Store, it’s a simple tool for self-guided ESP training.
Intuito Lab has simplified the original concept, focusing solely on colors.
By practicing regularly, improving your focus and receptivity, you can boost your scores and unlock your psychic potential!
