Intuition VS Meta-IntuitionJust as there is physics and metaphysics, Intuitio Lab highlights the crucial difference between intuition and meta-intuition.
Short Definitions
Intuition: Defined in various ways in philosophy and psychology, intuition is the ability to sense or understand something without analysis or reasoning. Intuition is raw—it can be classical, supra-rational, or infra-rational.
Meta-: A prefix expressing succession, change, or “that which goes beyond or encompasses” (a thought object, a science).
Meta-Intuition: Meta-intuition is a deep intuition or a sequence of intuitions that surpasses simple intuition. We consciously confront it with logical and rational analysis to enrich our cognition and build our meta-reasoning.
A Difference in Scale
Intuition is isolated, unlinked to our reasoning, and can surprise or destabilize us with its unexpected effect.
In contrast, meta-intuition is part of a chain of successive, higher intuitions that gradually feed and restructure our daily cognitive and decision-making processes.
Meta-intuition radically and permanently transforms our thought system, taking a major role in anticipating and organizing our lives.
A Change in Nature
Meta-intuition completely reshapes our cognitive system: it lies at the heart of our perception and representation of the world, continuously enriching our psyche—much like our common senses: sight, hearing, touch, etc.
Thus, every new piece of information we receive in daily life is either fueled by our intuition or filtered through both intuition and reason—since meta-intuition is systematically questioned and weighed by reason.
Once we develop our meta-intuition, we gain a higher level of awakening and consciousness, contributing to a fundamental change in the nature of our psyche. We acquire a natural sixth sense, and we no longer see the world as before.
And barring accident, we can never go back.Beyond simple intuition, it is to this unshakeable level of meta-intuition that Intuitio Lab aims to elevate you.
We will then speak of intuitive metacognition or IMC.
